31 Jan Tap happy tech
It’s been coming for a while. America’s had it for ages and we’ve hard parts of it for a year or so.
No wallet, no worries. No card, no problem. Use your mobile to withdraw cash from an ATM or head to the Hey you app and start sipping a latte.
Tap and pay mobile phone technology is now in Australia. Suncorp, ANZ and ING already have it and now largest financials, Comm Bank have it. Apple Pay. It’s a game changer for Apple tragics like me and it’s ridiculous how excited I am to pay for things with my iPhone.
But wait there’s more. The excitement doesn’t stop there.
You can pay with your apple watch too! I know right! Ridiculous. So exciting. I’m like a kid in a candy shop.
There is one thing you need to do though before you start tapping your phone around. You have to add a passcode and a touch ID to your iPhone. I found this very annoying. Naughty I know, but I’ve never used a passcode or touch ID. I find them both annoying. I’m getting used to it though and on the upside, I no longer have to enter my Apple password to buy apps and the like, I just touch my trusty thumb to the home button.
It seems that not everyone is as excited about Apple Pay as I am. Sydney Airport’s Watermark Books and Cafe say customers have been slow to take up the technology.
“We have a few people using smartphones to pay. Not that many.”
